[Freeware] Speakerphone v1.0.001

Postby mambojambo » Fri Jun 23, 2006 5:33 pm

Hi guys, new here!

First and foremost I'm not a developer myself, but since Radhoo encouraged me to post some feedback and thoughts on the speakerphone app, so here I am :-)

Basically, the problem faced is that the Green button on my XDAIIs (Blue Angel) is not that sensitive. Sometimes while driving, it takes lots of effort to activate the speakerphone. At times it somehow refuses to activate. I'm not sure if it's hardware error or software error. If it's software error, then I think further debugging would be needed as the Speakerphone app would need to overcome those bugs first, right?

The idea here is to obtain a small app that will execute the string of commands to activate the speakerphone via a simple shortcut and to turn the speakerphone off automatically once the call is done. In my opinion, if the speakerphone button can be incorporated into one of the WM5.0 softkeys during the conversation, that will be great. Nevertheless, I don't mind launching it from the start menu.

Now if only I knew programming... I would have done something with those samples Radhoo posted. Regret I never took the initative to learn. Haha.

Anyway, I hope this is what Radhoo is looking for: Feedback from ppl like me.

Thanks for your lines. Sure is what im looking for

Now lets see what's missing:
You are driving and the green button works improperly for turning on the speakerphone

There would some nice solutions to this:
1) you have a titlebar icon, when you press it you get a small list, with options:
o) auto-speakerphone : this would automatically turn on the speaker once a phone call is established
o) auto-pickup : this would automatically pickup the call
o) auto-pickup and speakerphone : automatically pickup + get speakerphone on
o) auto-block : would automatically block any incoming call: no sound would be heard no nothing

This would help during driving, but im not sure if this is what you are looking for. Please detail :D

2) as you said a shortcut in programs to turn it on when you are in a call: i think its difficult to use it while driving

3) to assign this function (the speakerphone) to another key, that can be pressed more easy then the holding of the green button.

so... which idea is the best 1,2,3 or 4? :)

I think idea two or three will suit me more as I don't quite like auto-enable speakerphone. Sometimes I need the privacy if there are people around me.

As for using a shortcut in Programs folder, that will not be such a difficult thing because we can place the shortcut on the Start menu. I was also looking forward to the possibility of changing one of the phone softbuttons to activate the speakerphone. At present, when a call is going on, there are six softbuttons that allow the following: Mute, Call History, Talk, End, Notes, Contacts. At least that's what's on my device. Perhaps one of it like call history can be made into Speakerphone instead.

But I think that one is too complicating for a simple software and can be implemented in the future. I was thinking of something as simple as a small .exe file that calls out the correct codes for speakerphone activation. And perhaps future releases can allow hardware button mapping as well (press Record button for eg instead of 3secs of Green button)

Hehe.. let me see.

Why not just keep the name simple too. SpeakerPhone v1.0 ? Since this app is all about customising the speakerphone's behaviour.
